So I can bascially sum last weekend up in three words: strange, hilarious, and just plain embarrassing!!!
Strange:
Saturday afternoon, I was getting ready to go over to my Mom's house and I started to hear this beeping noise. You know the one, when the battery is dying on a smoke detector and won't stop until you change it... so I thought to myself this is a job for Henry :) So I left the house thinking Hen would take care of it when he got home from work. Later that evening I get a call from Henry.
"Honey, you won't believe what just happened!"
Before I go into the next part let me give you some background. Brody and Cali were in desperate need of a bath. But with the rain and the snow, I just kept putting it off, thinking they could hold out until May. Historically Brody has always been really good about getting a bath, and Cali on the other hand has always fought tooth and nail to not take one. Now I will continue.
"Honey, you won't believe what just happened! I was standing upstairs in the hallway trying to figure out which smoke alarm was beeping when Cali walked into the bathroom, pushed the curtain back with her nose, and proceeded to climb into the bathtub. Then she pokes her head out of the other side of the shower and looks up at me as if to say.... Can I have a bath now please?"
(So I am sure Henry is now thinking "This is job for my wife", but of course this wasn't spoken outloud...)
Hilarious: Let's move forward a few hours to let's say 10:30, 11pm that same day when after being at my Mom's all day I went to the grocery store to make sure we had food for Sunday dinner... I arrive home. As Hen and I start putting the groceries away, I start to notice the obnoxious sound....
Beeeeeep.
Beeeeeep.
Beeeeep.
So of course what do I do next?
"Honey, why didn't you put a new battery in the smoke alarm?"
And of course my Husband who has an answer/excuse for everything says the following:
"We don't have any batteries"
At which point I produce (in two seconds) the said battery from a drawer in the kitchen.
Then he tells me he doesn't know which smoke alarm it is. I was like you have got to be kidding me!
So we stand, two grown adults staring up at the ceiling for 15 minutes trying to figure what which smoke alarm is the one beeping. (Mind you, there are two in the upstairs hallway and one at the bottom of the staircase)
Henry gets a ladder, still we can't figure it out...
I decide to give up and head to the bathroom to prepare for Cali's bath. Now I know I am losing it because I am hearing the beeping and it is even louder now.
Hen comes into the bathroom and closes the door.
Here is the best part!!!
Hen finds a carbon monoxide detector that had been shoved in the back of the bathroom cabinet whose battery was dying. So all of our ceiling watching was for nothing!
We had to laugh because we were so tired and realized how ridiculous the situation was.
Next I opened the curtain and said "Cali do you want a bath?" and sure enough she stepped right in.
Brody, on the other hand, got into the bathtub kicking and screaming, and even tried to escape when he was soaped from head to paw!
Embarrassing: Fast forward to Sunday morning. Now that the kids are bathed and dry they are shedding like crazy! There is fur all over the house and on anyone that walks through the front door. So I take them out into the backyard and commence to brush them down. Fur is flying everywhere and by the time I was done the backyard was covered in white, brown, and red fur like it had been snowing. As I stand up I look down and realize I had more fur on me than the dogs did. So I commence to try and shake off what fur I could before going into the house. The best description of what I looked like has to be the part of the Hokey Pokey song where you "shake it all about". As I am jumping up and down and all around like a complete lunatic, I hear over my shoulder "Honey, I'm home!", I turn around to see our new roomie poke his head out the back door. Now if that isn't embarrassing, I don't know what is!!!! I am sure he thinks we are absolutely crazy people and will not want to live with us too much longer.....
We didn't realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun!
