Hen and I had the opportunity to go to Connecticut to spend some much needed time with Grandpa. We had some very tender moments and mercies on this trip. We had the opportunity to do a session at the Hartford temple one night and went to see Grandpa after. It was a beautiful session and it was around 9pm when we went to visit Grandpa. We were sitting and chatting and out of no where he turns to me and asks me if I had a nail file in my purse. It was so random and so specific it really made us chuckle. That night I was also inspired to work on some of Henry's family's genealogy, maybe it was from going to the temple. But I was able to connect a bunch of names and lines and I didn't fall asleep until after 3am. I even stumbled upon a marriage certificate from Grandma 4's parents. Oh the rabbit hole genealogy becomes.
Grandpy snoozing on his first day back home.
The day we arrived in Connecticut, Hen suprised me with a limo to get us to Grandpa's house. It was nice after traveling such a far distance.
The day we arrived in Connecticut this owl was in the backyard at Grandpa's house, likely foreshadowing what was to come. The owl stayed there watching over the house for a few days while Grandpa was at the rehad facility. He/she was sure beautiful. It was hard to be in the house without Grandma or Grandpa there. Luckily Grandpa was able to come home the Saturday before we left, so we were able to spend some time with him there. And I was able to fix his fingernail before we left.
Side note, if you ever wondered what it is like traveling with this guy, this picture pretty much sums it up.... and I probably wouldn't have it any other way....
