Back in November I was called to be the Beehive Advisor in my ward. This means that I get to spend my time each Sunday and Wednesday with the 12-13 year old girls in our area. I teach lessons on Sunday's and have activities with them on Wednesdays. This week our activity is called New Beginnings. New Beginnings is a time to welcome new girls to the Young Women program and to teach them about Personal Progress. "Personal Progress is a goal-setting program that helps a young woman develop a testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel." As part of this activity, as leaders we decided to write down all of our testimonies and give them to the Young Women. So I have prepared mine and thought I would share it with you here.
I would like to bear you my testimony, that I know that our Heavenly Father and Savior loves you and me. I know that they know us by name and by heart. I know that Joseph Smith saw them when he prayed in the grove of trees that day. I love this gospel and feel so blessed to be apart of it each day. I love the Lord and all the tender mercies he has given me in my life. I have a testimony of the scriptures, of fasting, of tithing, of prayer. I have a testimony of the word of wisdom and of the temple. When I look back on my life there are so many times where I see the Lord's hand helping me along, even if it didn't feel like it at the time. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is real and true. I know without a shadow of a doubt that our Savior came to this earth, atoned for our sins, died on a cross on Calvary, and was resurrected so that we could live forever with Him and our Heavenly Father once again. I am proud to be a daughter of our Heavenly Father. I am proud to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where I know that I am loved and needed and can work towards being the best of myself all the days of my life. I am so grateful for the blessing of being the Beehive Advisor and the joy and peace that is in my heart everytime I spend time with the Young Women. I love all of you so much, even if I do not know you all by name yet. I love your spirits and the strength that you have in these difficult times. You are an example to me of the love the Lord has for his daughters. Please don't ever forget who you are and what you stand for. For the Lord has told us "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30) I know that if you will stay close to the gospel of Jesus Christ and try to look for his hand in your life, you will find it and find the joy and peace that accompanies it. I say these things humbly, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
