Tubin

Ok so this evening ended up being one comedic event after another.

My work put on this fun event for families for dinner and tubing in Heber at Soldier Hollow. The e-mail said dinner would be at 5pm. I had told my sister we should try to get there at 5 so that we can eat, have plenty of time for tubing, and then go home early if we wanted since it would get cold and dark soon.

I show up as the first person there... then my sister shows up with her fam. I had some stuff for them to take back to their house including two sleeves of sacrament cups because i accidentally bought a thousand of them... which the kids got a kick out of.

Then we tried to go into dinner and all the doors were locked. I was like oh no! Then someone came to let us in and told us dinner wouldn't be served until 6pm but they atleast let us come in and sit down.

After sitting down, Cole's comment was " I was told there would be food" as we sat at a table with only cups for water and lemonade. The next hour my other coworkers slowly fizzled in, Chase checked his watch every two seconds to see if the time had passed and it was time to eat, Bryce wanted everyone to play the animal game but no one would join in since it sounds like he wins every time.

Well we made it through the hour and we all had tasty prime rib for dinner.

Next we ventured to the tubing hill. I atleast had the foresight to not join with anyone else on my first run down because I didn't know how fast it really was going to be.

In my defense, later in the evening a worker had mentioned that the conditions were really too icy and they should have shut down weeks ago. I am sure the owners were just trying to milk everything out of the season that they possibly could.

First down the mountain was Berry and Avery on my right and Cole on my left. Then I sat down on the tube, lifted my feet and away I went, down the icy hill of death!!!!

The amount of momentum and speed that I gained I was not prepared for. For that 5 seconds down the hill, I had a bit of Tourette's moment as I realized I had absolutely zero control of my speed. I tried to put my feet down but it literally did nothing. As I got to the end the path slopes up, so I thought I would naturally slow down. This was not the case I FLEW like I have never flown before, over the hill, through fence number one, through fence number two, and bounced off the back of the green inflatable barrier. I am just sooo grateful I didn't knock anyone over. The worker told me if I broke through those fences again I would be asked to leave. Believe me, it wasn't intentional. Later I also learned that I was supposed to put my feet down when I got to the orange cones. Well I was moving so fast I never even saw the cones!!!!

Needless to say Cole saw it happen and was scared for my life until I started laughing since I literally hit the last barrier going 30 miles an hour and of course my sister literally fell over laughing when she saw what had happened.

The worker told me I could try going face first down the hill and drag my feet the whole way next time, but that seemed even scarier.

I decided not to try it again after a quick prayer asking if it would be ok if I tried again, but got a very quick No. So I guess my guardian angels only had the strength to save me once that night. I don't blame them.

Overall my sister and her kids had fun, which made it all worth it in the end!

Don’t think I have ever traveled so fast in my life while not being in a car or airplane…
