Willie Cook

January 22, 2020. I was leaving work and I was prompted to call my friend Willie. His sister answered his phone which was strange and then handed him the phone. He told me he was in the U of U hospital. It was perfect timing because I was able to drive straight there to visit him. When I arrived he was not doing well. Normally his heart would have issues with retaining water, but now it was happening to his whole body. I was able to visit with him and his family for a few hours before going home. The next day they had planned to have an "unbirthday party" for him at noon. I was planning that night to get on a plane to go get Lucy from Oklahoma City, so was trying to get all my work done. I wasn't sure I would be able to make it to the party and planned to go later in the afternoon. Something told me, no, you need to go to the party. Little did I know that would be the last time I would see him on this earth. He passed less than a couple of hours after his party. So grateful for tender mercies and the opportunity I had to say to goodbye to my friend of 20 years.

Willie Obituary

Willie and I met when I was 16 and he was 17. I was called as a special needs mutual counselor at that time and was a counselor to a woman named Cheryl. It was during that time Willie and I met. We would dance at the dances and I became one of his many "girlfriends". We stayed in touch over the years over the phone and seeing him on his birthday and Christmas and sometimes in between. I had the opportunity to be in the temple with him the day he took out his endowments. Upon entering the Celestial room, he proceeded, loudly to announce to everyone that I was his exgirlfriend. I was married at the time to someone Willie never approved of, and he was never afraid to tell me that either. As the years went on, we got older, but our friendship was unchanged. He has been a blessing in my life through all the ups and downs and I will cherish the day we can see each other again.

From his last "unbirthday" birthday party!

Willie planned his whole funeral and of course planned to be brought in by stagecoach which is no surprise because he was always a cowboy at heart!

The below photo was from his 30th birthday bash party.

After Willie passed his mom sent the below photo to me in the mail.  It made my day! Can’t  believe how young Willie Cook and I look!! The year on the back said 2003. So I would have been 19 I think.

Merry Christmas 2019

This year I spent hundreds of hours putting together a slideshow of Henry's life. I think it turned out pretty good and he appreciated it. It is an hour and a half, which is long but when you are trying to fit 38 years into one slideshow that is bound to happen.... I got spoiled too this year! Mom and Dad got us a new roaster so that I can make the turkey next year and a food processor and Hen got me some perfume I had been wanting. The day was a great relaxing day that ended up at China Star for dinner... Also this year Hen and I broke down and got an artificial tree, but so far the lack of mess and having it prestrung has been a plus! Also it has a bunch of different light settings, so I can switch to white for me and Hen can switch it to colored lights for him. Marriage is all about compromise :) This Christmas has also been special to put up decorations for the first time since we moved in Christmas week last year. One of my favorite things, is for the first time we have a mantel and a fireplace to hang our stockings from!

Here is the video of how I wrapped the present

Here is the slideshow video-Be aware this thing is 82.50 minutes!

It's a Christmas Miracle

It’s a Christmas miracle!!! This morning I had opened the front door and not closed it securely for some reason. Hours later I was downstairs in my office working and Henry was upstairs in his office working. Henry started to feel like wow, it’s getting really cold in here. It was crazy windy outside. After a while he walked out to find the front door wide open and Charlie and Oscar standing there looking outside. What a miracle that they didn’t take off!! If Lily were still here it would have been game over. So grateful our boys were Christmas angels and didn’t bolt when given the chance. Especially since we have no idea how long that door was actually open.

The boys have also become obsessed with this one rug in our entry... and keep trying to both fit on it.

Annual Gag Gifts

For Bobby and Luce I had this lovely one of kind blanket made of their new kitten Griffin. Too funny!

For Hen, a new apron since earlier in the year he was helping with food at a Scottish Rite meeting and I had sent him with an apron but he had left it in the car, then proceeded to get coffee all over himself. If only he had brought the apron in with him... Henry got me some shoe inserts because I have had a really rough year with my feet!

Krista's favorite hobby is Pickle Ball so my mom put a pickleball in a jar of pickles.

Krista gave me a game called Rat Race, because to date charlie has brought into the house 4 dead rats...

My mom got my dad this shirt, he wears it with pride!

My dad got my mom this shirt this year because she has had a bit of an addiction to reading.
