Brigham City Temple Tour

I had the opportunity to go through the Brigham City Temple Open House. As we arrived we were taken to a room and shown a video to show what the purpose of the temple is. Then as we walked to the entrance, volunteers sitting in chairs put shoe covers over our shoes for us to protect the carpets in the temple. It was a really cool service that they performed and it reminded me of when Jesus Christ washed his apostles feet as a sign of love and service. It was a cool experience to walk through the temple with everyone and see the beautiful architecture inside. I can't wait until it is dedicated and we can go back through. If any of you ever have the opportunity to go to an LDS temple open house I would highly recommend it!

Conference Center Tour

For one of our Beehive activities we took a tour of the LDS Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City. This picture was taken from the roof of the building and you can see the beautiful Salt Lake Temple in the background. I love that temple because there is so much history surrounding it. Every time I am able to work there I gain a greater appreciation for the pioneers and the hard work that went into building that beautiful structure. At the end of the tour our tour guide had all of our group sing "I'm going to see the Temple". It was really cool to sing that song and be looking at the temple while singing it. I know it made an impression on me as I am sure it did the girls.

Girls Camp 2012

I had the opportunity to attend Girls Camp as a leader this year. It was August 1st through the 3rd at Bear Lake in Northern Utah. And it was a blast! There were 19 girls that attended from the ages of 12-17 and it was like a three day slumber party! The location was beautiful and the weather was great. Only downside was at night when I could hear scurrying around my tent. What I thought were mice turned out to be a skunk that the bishop ended up shooing away at 3 am when he heard something making noise in the camp. Other great memories were singing songs every night as a group, teaching the girls to crochet, playing bananagrams, swimming in the beautiful lake, testimony meeting, and getting to know the girls better. I hope I get to go again because it truly was a blast!

My Best Friend turned 30!

In the below picture is one of my oldest friends Willie Cook. Willie and I met when I was sixteen while I was serving in a calling as a counselor in Special Needs Mutual. In high school the activities for Special Needs individuals were held every Thursday night. At the time I was assigned to a woman named Cheryl who was Deaf and mentally handicapped. I was taking sign language in school at the time and so was able to speak with her on a basic level and spend time helping her each week in activities such as road shows, dances, games, lessons etc. Through this experience my testimony grew so much and my usual dance partner became Willie. Over the years Willie and I have kept in touch and we have made some great memories over the years. One of my most special memories was being able to be in the temple the day Willie went through for the first time. The below picture was at his 30th Birthday Bash that Hen and I attended. I am so blessed to have him as a friend and I know we will be friends in this life and the next! Love you Willie!
